The rules that matter

  • Distance rule: Optional, per garden: some gardens apply a Local Visitor Exception and offer the benefit only to visitors whose membership card address is more than 90 miles away. AHS flags those gardens on its map; most don't use it.
  • Free admission does not include special events such as festivals or special exhibits.
  • Each card admits only the people named on it; for unnamed family cards, AHS asks gardens to admit the same number their own equivalent membership would.
  • Admission policies for children 17 and under vary by garden, and some gardens list a parking fee — check the garden's listing before you go.
  • The program was renamed from the Reciprocal Admissions Program (RAP) to the AHS Garden Network; old RAP links redirect.
