How this tool works
Everything here comes from each program's official roster — the NARM quarterly roster, ASTC's Travel Passport participant list, the AZA reciprocity chart, Time Travelers' member directory and Museums for All's participant map — parsed into one geocoded database (4,183 rows, 4,102 mapped) and refreshed quarterly. Every result shows when its roster was pulled.
- The exclusion rules are computed, not footnoted. ASTC reciprocity is void within 90 miles (as the crow flies) of BOTH your home science center and your home address — so we measure both distances for every science center on the list and tell you which ones you can actually use.
- Restriction flags ride each row. NARM's roster marks museums that restrict special events (*) or exclude members living within 15 miles (**); AZA's chart splits free-admission zoos from 50%-off zoos. We carry those flags through.
- Distances are city-level. Rows are geocoded to their city (Census gazetteer), so distances are accurate to a couple of miles — right for a "worth the drive?" answer; check the museum's site for the door address.
- Stale rosters are the incumbents' weakness. ROAM's public roster has been unreachable since at least Sep 2026 and we say so, rather than serving its 2018 snapshot as current.

What is museum reciprocity?
Higher membership tiers at many museums, science centers and zoos include a reciprocal-program logo (NARM, ASTC, AZA, Time Travelers, ROAM) that gets you free or discounted admission at hundreds of other institutions. A $100–150 family membership often unlocks free entry across the country — if you know the rules.
What is the ASTC 90-mile rule?
The ASTC Travel Passport program only applies when the science center you're visiting is more than 90 miles, as the crow flies, from BOTH your home science center AND your home address. Inside that radius the visiting center can charge full price. Our lookup computes both distances for you — it's the single most common reciprocity surprise.
What does the NARM sticker get me?
Free member admission (plus shop discounts) at 1,433 museums — if your membership is at a NARM-qualifying level. Watch the roster flags: * means events can be excluded, ** means the museum doesn't honor members who live within 15 miles.
Is zoo membership reciprocal?
Usually, via the AZA Reciprocal Admissions Program — but it's a mix: some zoos honor other members free, most give 50% off, and the list is directional (zoo A may honor zoo B but not vice versa). Our lookup marks which tier each zoo is on and recommends calling ahead.
What is Museums for All?
Different from the membership programs: any SNAP EBT cardholder (with photo ID) gets admission from free to $5 for up to four people at 1,760 participating museums — no membership required, any state's EBT card, during all normal hours.
Do I need my membership card with me?
Yes — physically or in the app, usually with photo ID, and the named cardholder must be present. Reciprocity covers the people named on the membership, not extra guests, and busy days can suspend it at individual institutions.
